Salesforce and Anthropic launch Claudeforce to run CRM work inside Claude
Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce on August 26, 2026. The partnership puts Salesforce data and workflows inside Claude. The first product, Salesforce in Claude, ships with 37 prebuilt sales skills. Sellers can query records, update deals and run pipeline reviews without opening Salesforce. Pilot access is open now.
What Salesforce in Claude includes and when it ships
Salesforce in Claude is a plugin. It carries 37 prebuilt sales skills, including meeting prep, deal health review and pipeline review. Salesforce and Anthropic built the skills together. An admin connects the plugin once. Authentication and permissions are managed centrally, so every seller gets access on day one.
The plugin runs on AIforce, the harness Salesforce uses to expose its data through MCP servers, APIs and command line tools. Permissions carry over from Salesforce. If a seller cannot see a record in Salesforce, the connection cannot read or write it either.
Salesforce says the product is open to select pilot customers now, with open beta planned for September 2026. The Salesforce press release says more prebuilt skills start launching in late 2026. Marketing, service and commerce capabilities follow the sales release.
The partnership runs in three directions. Salesforce sits inside Claude. Claude sits inside Agentforce as a reasoning model for the Atlas Reasoning Engine. Claude also becomes the default model for Slack, powering Slackbot and the new Slack Code product.
The two companies also report internal usage figures, and the numbers do not match. Salesforce’s press release says Slackbot has driven 8.1 million hours of annualized productivity gains, up over 2x quarter over quarter. VentureBeat reported Salesforce claiming 3.8 million productivity hours annually, with 83% of its workforce using Claude-powered Slackbot. Neither figure has been independently audited.
Who announced Claudeforce and where the pricing detail came from
Salesforce published the news in an August 26, 2026 press release from San Francisco, quoting chair and CEO Marc Benioff and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. VentureBeat published an exclusive interview the same day with Patrick Stokes, Salesforce’s president of applications and marketing. The pricing detail in this story comes from that interview.
How Claudeforce fits the agentic martech race in B2B
Every large marketing and CRM suite is now building an agent layer. Adobe made the same move in June with CX Enterprise Coworker, rebuilding Experience Cloud around AI agents. The suites are competing to own the layer that sits above a brand’s stack.
Claudeforce differs in one respect. Adobe is selling agents that run inside its own products. Salesforce is handing the interface to a partner it does not own.
The ground underneath is shaky. The CMO Council’s 2026 audit found only 1 in 4 marketing leaders call their martech stack highly advanced. Buyers are moving too. TrustRadius found 63% of B2B buyers use AI during a software purchase, and 94% of them fact-check it. Agents are arriving on both sides of the table at once.
Talking Shift: Claudeforce moves martech cost from seats to usage
Here is the part marketing operations should read twice. Stokes told VentureBeat that Salesforce charges for this usage through its headless consumption pricing. Access to API calls scales with your Salesforce license edition. Customers contract with Anthropic separately for the Claude inference. “You can’t buy this on one piece of paper at the moment,” Stokes said.
That is two invoices for one workflow. Start Some Shift’s view: when agents replace clicks, martech spend turns from a headcount number into a usage number. Most marketing budgets are not built to forecast usage. A seat is predictable. Usage moves with how hard the team works that quarter. A team that leans on agents in Q4 can produce a bill nobody planned for.
There is a second issue. Sellers now work inside Claude, a surface shared with every other vendor’s plugin and connector. Your CRM sits next to competitors’ tools in the same window. The real contest is being the source the agent reaches for first.
What B2B marketers should do about Claudeforce and consumption pricing
This launch gives marketing operations teams a short list of things to settle before the September beta.
- Ask your Salesforce rep exactly how many API calls your license edition includes before the beta opens.
- Model a usage-based bill against your current seat cost, using your heaviest sales month as the input.
- Budget the Anthropic contract separately, since Salesforce confirmed the two purchases are not on one invoice.
- Audit which of the 37 sales skills map to work your team actually does, and ignore the rest.
- Verify your Salesforce permissions now, because the plugin inherits them exactly as they stand.
- Assume your CRM shares the Claude window with competitors’ connectors, and make your data the cleanest thing an agent can reach there.
- Set a review date after the open beta, and measure the outcome in seller hours saved.
