ActiveCampaign launches Google Ads connector for its Active Intelligence AI engine

ActiveCampaign announced a new Google Ads connector for Active Intelligence on July 8, 2026. Active Intelligence is the company’s AI engine that runs end-to-end marketing tasks. The connector lets marketers link their ActiveCampaign data to Google Ads and launch Performance Max campaigns using plain conversational prompts, without leaving the ActiveCampaign platform.

What the ActiveCampaign Google Ads connector does

The connector walks marketers through the full campaign process. Active Intelligence helps set up a new Google Ads account, pick a campaign goal, and write ad copy. It also uses Google’s gen AI asset builder, still in beta, to generate new campaign images. Marketers can also pull from images already stored in ActiveCampaign’s Content Manager.

Performance Max is Google’s all-in-one campaign type. It uses AI to find and convert customers across Google’s full network, including Search, YouTube, Gmail, Maps, Display, and Discover, all from one campaign setup.

ActiveCampaign calls this the “last mile” of marketing. The idea is that marketers set the direction and AI handles execution, so business owners spend less time on manual setup and more time on strategy and message.

The Google Ads connector joins a growing list of Active Intelligence connectors. Marketers can already connect Wix, Calendly, and Stripe, with more tools expected soon. The Google Ads connector is available now to ActiveCampaign customers on Plus plans and above.

Where the ActiveCampaign Google Ads connector announcement comes from

ActiveCampaign announced the news in a press release on July 8, 2026. PPC Land’s coverage ties the launch to a separate ActiveCampaign-commissioned survey called “13 Hours Back Each Week.” That survey found 82% of marketers already use AI somewhere in their work, but only 23% apply it across the full marketing lifecycle, from planning through execution to optimization. The Google Ads connector is built to help close that gap.

Why the ActiveCampaign Google Ads connector matters for B2B advertisers

AI-run ad campaigns are becoming more common across the industry. OpenAI is already testing its own multi-advertiser ad format inside ChatGPT, and more platforms are asking marketers to trust AI with more of their ad execution at once.

Handing over campaign execution can save time, but it raises a real question: who is accountable when an AI-built ad campaign underperforms? ActiveCampaign says the marketer stays in control of strategy and budget the whole time. That distinction matters. A tool that proposes a plan is different from one that spends a budget without a human sign-off.

For B2B advertisers, there is also a competitive angle. A TripleDart benchmark found that competitor conquesting campaigns cut B2B SaaS lead costs by 39%, showing that campaign strategy, not just setup speed, drives PPC results. Faster campaign creation does not guarantee a better return. Marketers still need a reason for their ad to win the click, not just an AI-assisted way to enter the auction faster.

Talking Shift: an AI-run campaign still needs a human reason to win

Start Some Shift’s Binary Buyer Thesis splits B2B buying into two systems: the machine system that gathers information, and the human system that decides who to trust. Tools like Active Intelligence speed up the machine side of advertising. They set up accounts, write draft copy, and pick budgets faster than a person could alone.

But speed on the machine side does not replace the human side of the equation. A prospect who sees a fast, AI-assembled ad still decides whether to trust the brand behind it the same way they always have. Marketers who lean entirely on AI-run execution risk moving fast on the machine side while leaving the human side of the pitch generic. Check where your own strategy stands with the Binary Buyer Audit.

What the ActiveCampaign Google Ads connector means for B2B marketers

  • Keep a human check on AI-drafted ad copy before it goes live, since brand voice still needs a final review.
  • Set a clear budget ceiling before handing campaign setup to Active Intelligence or any similar AI connector.
  • Compare campaign results from the connector against your existing Performance Max campaigns for the first few months.
  • Watch for new connectors beyond Wix, Calendly, and Stripe, since ActiveCampaign says more are coming.
  • Ask what data the connector pulls from your ActiveCampaign account before granting access to your Google Ads account.
  • Build a distinct reason for buyers to click your ad, since faster setup does not fix a crowded auction.

What to watch next on AI-run ad campaign tools

Watch whether other CRM and marketing automation platforms add similar ad-buying connectors this year, especially as more CRM platforms race to build AI agents into their core products. Also watch whether ActiveCampaign expands Active Intelligence into other ad networks beyond Google, since the “last mile” pitch depends on covering a marketer’s full channel mix, not just one platform.
